Caltech Active Transport Pass

In biology, substances normally move through cell membranes according to the concentration gradient, from high concentration to low concentration. In order for a substance to move against the concentration gradient, the cell needs to use energy, usually in the form of ATP (Adenosine triphosphate). This is called active transport.

There are many reasons why students may face a concentration gradient when applying to college, and the application fee is one of them. As a result, we are introducing the Caltech Active Transport Pass (ATP!) to allow students to get through this initial barrier and submit an application without worrying about the cost. If you are applying for financial aid and the fee presents a financial hardship, you are eligible for the Active Transport Pass!

We will waive the application fee for anyone who indicates that the $75 fee would represent an undue financial burden. Please note that if you've applied through QuestBridge you don't need to complete this form, as your fee will automatically be waived.

In order to ensure that the fee waiver matches into your application record, please make sure that all data points (name, email address, etc.) are entered exactly as they appear or will appear on your application.
